New Year, New Decade, New Beginning ...

Happy New Year!

We are about to pop the champagne, blow the horns and sign auld lang syne; saying goodbye to 2019, and welcoming in a new year, a new decade 2020.

With each new year we feel the pressure to set new year resolutions, and sometimes, unrealistic goals for ourself. Feeling there MUST be something we should be committing to - even if our heart truly isn't in it.

Each January I would have the same resolutions - exercising more, losing weight - always the top two. I would find myself amongst many, who, by January 30th ... was giving up, feeling like a failure, and succumbing to my usual ways for the rest of the year. Does this sound familiar to you? It's quite okay to say "Yes, it does!"

I have learned, in recent years, that resolutions aren't necessary. Resolutions, in fact, can have a huge negative impact, if our intentions aren't aligned.

Resolutions are made because we feel inadequate in some way. Somehow there is a pressure to always strive for more, to be better. This makes me wonder. If resolutions start from a sense of inadequacy, then when we fail to stick to those resolutions are we not simply reinforcing the belief of inadequacy? of not being enough?

I know now that I am enough, and it is quite okay to simply be good enough where I'm at. It is more than good to simply be enough. I have found that believing I am enough moves me toward setting positive intentions instead of resolutions. Intentions that reinforce the alignment with my values and my heart. Intentions that create abundance in my life, through my work, family, and relationships. Intentions that reinforce kindness and gratitude for others and myself. If I extend kindness and gratitude to myself, I will instinctively treat my body well. I will simply move more and eat well, in kindness to myself. These intentions will echo "I am enough".

For me, setting intention feels much more positive, purposeful and possible from here. Doesn't this perspective simply feel better?

2020, a year of clear vision, clear thought and clear intention. It seems appropriate that I will see, think, and act with clear intention in 2020, and it will be a year that continues to affirm "I am enough". 2020 just might create clarity for all of us in accepting, and believing, we are enough. We are all enough.

May 2020 bring you all you need to know and believe that you are enough.

Happy New Year!
